DSEK to Finalise Winter Break Based on Weather, Not Before Exams

Srinagar: Dr Tassaduq Hussain, Director of School Education Kashmir (DSEK), on Saturday said that the decision regarding winter vacations will be made only after the completion of the annual exams for classes 1 to 9. “There will be no winter vacations before the exams,” he clarified.Speaking to reporters, he emphasised that the government’s primary focus is to ensure the smooth and fair conduct of examinations, which will begin on Monday. “Students should remain stress-free as we will ensure a fair examination process,” he assured.

Regarding the DSEK directive on not allowing minors to drive to schools, Dr Hussain explained that the directive follows the traffic police department’s advisory, as all students attending schools are under 18. “We need to end the menace of road accidents by promoting responsible behaviour among students and parents,” he said.

On the issue of heating arrangements in schools, he mentioned that the directorate is closely monitoring the situation. However, he also suggested that students should be made resilient in such conditions.

He also said that after the last paper on November 9, results will be declared as soon as possible, and based on the weather conditions, a decision on winter vacations will be made.
