JKSSB 2024 Recruitment: Apply for 4002 Constable Posts in J&K Police
The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has released Advertisement Notification No. 01 of 2024 dated 16.07.2024 for the recruitment of Constables in the J&K Police, Home Department. This recruitment drive aims to fill 4002 vacancies through direct recruitment.

Eligibility Criteria
Domicile
Candidates must be domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and possess a valid domicile certificate.
Age Limit (as of 01.01.2024)
- General (OM): 18-28 years
- SC/ST/RBA/ALC/IB/OBC/EWS: 18-28 years
- In-Service Police Personnel: 18-30 years
- Government Service/Contractual Employees: 18-30 years
- SPOS and Volunteer Home Guards (VHGs): 18-40 years
Ex-servicemen can deduct the period of service from their actual age, provided the resultant age does not exceed the maximum age limit by more than 3 years.
Qualifications
Candidates must meet the educational qualifications specified in Annexure-A of the notification. Those declared qualified for document verification must produce original certificates by the cut-off date.
Application Process
1. Visit the Official Website: Go to JKSSB Official Website.
2. Submit Online Application: Complete the application form and pay the application fee.
3. Fee Payment:
- General: Rs. 700/-
- SC/ST-1/ST-2/EWS: Rs. 600/-
- Payment can be made via Net Banking, Credit/Debit cards.
Examination Details
Written Examination
- Format: Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions in English.
- Negative Marking: 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.
NCC Bonus Marks:
- NCC "C" Certificate: 5% of maximum marks.
- NCC "B" Certificate: 3% of maximum marks.
- NCC "A" Certificate: 2% of maximum marks.
Physical Standard Test (PST)
- For Males:
- Height: 5'-6" (minimum)
- Chest: 32" (unexpanded), 33.5" (expanded)
- For Females:
- Height: 5'-2" (minimum)
Gorkha Community and Bot Tribe candidates receive a 2" height relaxation.
Physical Endurance Test (PET)
- Males:
- Long Race: 1600 meters in 6.5 minutes
- Push-ups: 20 (one cycle of up and down)
- Females:
- Long Race: 1000 meters in 6.5 minutes
- Shot Put (4kg): 14.5 feet in three attempts
Important Notes
- Admit Cards: Download from the JKSSB website one week before the exam.
- ID Proof: Carry a valid photo ID (Aadhaar, Voter ID, Driving License, PAN, Passport, etc.) and two recent passport-size photos.
- No Centre Change: Examination centers cannot be changed.
