JKBOSE Notification: National Means Cum Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) Examination 2023-24
The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has released a notification regarding the conduct of the National Means Cum Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) Examination for the session 2023-24 in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.

It is notified for the information of aspiring candidates that under Centrally Sponsored Scheme, The Jammu and
Kashmir Board of School Education is going to conduct National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS)
Examination 2023-24 in February-March 2024 (date to be notified later on) for the students who are currently on rolls
in class VIII in the UT of J&K
Here are the key details:
Eligibility Criteria:
- Class VIII students are invited to apply for the NMMSS Examination.
- Applicants must have a minimum of 55% marks in Class VII exams, with a 5% relaxation for SC/ST students.
- Students must be studying in a Government/Government-aided/Local Body School.
- The overall family income should not exceed Rs. 3.50 Lakh per annum.
- Reservation will be provided to different categories of students as per the UT of J&K reservation policy.
Scholarship Details:
- The scholarship duration is four years.
- Students must pass two tests: Mental Aptitude Test (MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) with at least 40% marks in aggregate (32% for SC/ST students).
- The scholarship amount is Rs. 12,000 per annum per student, totaling Rs. 48,000 for each selected student from Class IX to Class XII.
Examination Details:
- NMMSS Examination consists of two papers: MAT and SAT.
- Each paper has 90 questions with a maximum of 90 marks, and the duration is 90 minutes.
- Children with special needs will be given extra time as applicable under rules.
Application Process:
- The application form and detailed information can be downloaded from the JKBOSE website (www.jkbose.nic.in).
- The application form, attested by the Head of the Institution, along with requisite documents and a pay-in-slip of Rs. 60.00 favoring Liaison Officer, NMMS, must reach the Chief Education Officer by or before 31st January 2024.
Database Submission:
- Chief Education Officers are required to prepare the database of candidates in the prescribed excel format and submit the application forms along with requisite documents and the database to CDR Wing, Jammu/Srinagar, within seven days of the closing date of this notification.
