Govt to establish computer labs with smart classroom facilities to educationally backward blocks, tribal areas on priority

Srinagar, Jul 01: In Jammu and Kashmir, authorities have decided to provide computer labs with smart classroom facilities to educationally backwards blocks and those falling in the habitations of tribal areas on priority.

The information was revealed by the Ministry of Education (MoE) in a Project Approval Board (PAB) for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir under Samagra Shiksha Scheme for the financial year 2023-24.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), an official, while informing about the initiatives taken by the UT government, said that, “JK has taken the initiative of providing a computer lab with smart class facilities in all the 23,283 schools.”

He said: “Schools falling in educationally backwards blocks and those falling in the habitations of tribal areas have been selected for digital initiatives on priority” .

The official said that so far it has established 1420 Call Centers at Upper Primary School level and 1588 ICT labs at Secondary and Higher Secondary Level and are functional till date.

About the Teaching-Learning Process, the J&K government said that it is providing quality education to the students in subject specific areas.

It also said that the UT government is organizing online Brainwaves, Samvaad sessions, debates, seminars, quiz and cultural exchange programs for the students which led to their overall development—(KNO)
