Zonal Level Inter-School Tournament concludes in Kargil

Kargil, May 23, 2023:
Joint Director Information, Ladakh, Imteeaz Kacho today attended the concluding ceremony of the Zonal Level Inter-School Tournament at Khree Sultan Cho Sports Stadium Bemathang, Kargil organized by Zonal Physical Education Officer, Kargil under the banner of Department of Youth Services & Sports, Kargil.
Joint Director Information was the chief guest on the occasion while District Youth Services & Sports Officer Kargil, Abid Ali was the guest of honour. Zonal Physical Education Officer Kargil, Officers and Officials of District Youth Services & Sports Department Kargil, Principals, teachers of various schools, hundreds of students and sports enthusiasts were present during the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Joint Director Information appreciated the efforts of the organizers for helping young players channelize their energies through games and exploring their hidden talents in sports by conducting such events. He said it is always delightful to see promising and talented youngsters utilizing their skills and energies in a constructive manner.
“Sports is vital for self growth while also helping in building character and instilling a sense of discipline among our youth. It effectively works as a supplement for inculcating discipline and a sense of responsibility among people,” he said.
While congratulating the young participants, Imteeaz Kacho said sports has vast scope and urged them to take it in a positive and professional way. He then asserted that the Government is providing every facility for the promotion of sports in schools. On top of it, dedicated teachers are working hard towards supporting and encouraging their students to opt for games.
While appreciating the young participants, Joint Director Information advised the participants to prepare themselves for the next level of competitions and challenges. He also urged them to work hard and represent Ladakh at the national and international platforms.He then o said the Information Department of Kargil is committed towards extending every kind of support for the promotion of sports activities in the District.
Zonal Physical Education Officer, Kargil informed that from middle to higher secondary level schools, 58 schools of Kargil Block participated in the inter-school tournaments in volleyball, handball and athletic events.
The tournament started on May 16 with U-19 boys and girls in volleyball and handball. More than 2,500 students participated in U-19, U-17 and U-14 boys and girls events during the entire tournament.
Officials said that after the block-level tournaments, they will select students for district-level tournaments and then they will be given a chance to participate in UT-level tournaments for further participation in national-level sports tournaments.
In the end, a prize distribution ceremony was held in which prizes and appreciation certificates were distributed among winners and runners by the guests.
