Some schools still compelling students to purchase books from a particular shop: DSEK
Directorate directs to the schools to attend Directorate on 29 April with compliance report
Srinagar, April 19 (KS) : Directorate of School Education Kashmir has taken cognisance of the complaints about some schools compelling students to purchase books from particular shops.
Joint director School Education Kashmir has written to Chairman/ Principal of Sane Kids Gojwara,Nowhatta, The Legend Kanitar, New Bonvivant School Narwara, Kashmir Harvard illahibagh, RP HMT, Malabagh Nagabal, Vishwa Bharati Rainawara, Hamdard School Tral, DMPS Pampore, Elites Nishat, Gestalt Edu Instt Shalimar, Kashani Memorial School Shalimar, New Era Public School Rajbagh, Hajahad Public School Awantipora, Doon International School Waypora HMT and Dubai Grand School to attend directorate office on 29 April along with compliance report.
“This Directorate is in receipt of a representation from Delegation of Book Sellers of Kashmir Valley through its General Secretary Complaining therein that prescription of books by JK BOSE for Class 6th & 7th in all the Private School is a welcome step and the general Public/ bookseller Community have heaved a sigh of relief, because the availability of books have got regulated and the Students, Parents now have an easy access to these books which was earlier very difficult for one and all to get the school books very easily.
But there are Still some schools where parents are asked to purchase books from specific shops and the management is still indulging in this practice where students/parents are forced to purchase books from the particular Book Sellers of their choice only.” Reads the notice issued in this regard, a copy of which lies with the Kashmir Scroll.
