“Like me, many girls and boys in their teenage want to pursue a career in sports, particularly martial arts, but there are no clubs or academies in this area where they can learn. Without even considering that I am just in eighth grade, I took the initiative to set up the club at my home so that the youngsters in the neighbourhood can learn without any difficulties,” she said.
Sub-Inspector Sharafat Ahmad hailed Darafshan’s initiative, saying it could help control the drug menace which has become a serious issue in the valley.
Shuja Ahmad, the chairman of the academy, stressed the need for involving more youth in sports activities to combat drug addiction. He emphasised the role of civil society in such initiatives for the betterment of society—(KNO)
