7th Pay Commission Latest News Today: After a 4% Dearness Allowance hike, the centre is reportedly mulling to revise the basic salary of over 50 lakh government employees. Speculations are also rife that the Modi-led government may scrap the pay commission and might come up with a new formula for salary calculations. The new change will allow the employees to change their fitment factor. However, nothing has been confirmed as of now. An official announcement regarding the same is awaited.

For the unversed, the government employees for the past many months have been demanding a hike in fitment factor to 3.68. At present, the common fitment factor stands at 2.57 per cent. The expected hike will raise the minimum wage from Rs 18,000 currently to Rs 26,000.
4% DA HIKE ANNOUNCED FOR GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES
Earlier last month, Union Minister Anurag Thakur announced a 4% hike in dearness allowance for Central government employees. Following the increase in accordance with the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission, the DA now stands at 42%.
The official notification said: "Cabinet has today approved the release of an additional instalment of Dearness Allowance to Central Government employees and Dearness Relief to Pensioners, due from 1st January 2023. This will benefit 47.58 lakh employees and 69.76 lakh pensioners."
