HDFC officially launches Parivartan project at SKUAST-K


Srinagar, Mar 18: The HDFC Bank on Saturday officially launched Parivartan project here at SKUAST-K as part of its CSR initiative. Chief guest of the event, Additional Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo attended the launch ceremony and addressed the participant.

Officials informed the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the project aims to foster socioeconomic development of the society by sustainably empowering communities. 


“The HDFC Bank, as part of its CSR initiative ‘Parivartan’, has partnered with ISAP India Foundation—formerly known as Indian Society of Agribusiness Professionals in an exemplary effort to strives towards developing sustainable micro enterprises thereby transforming the lives of rural agriculturalists in the valley of Kashmir,” reads the official statement. It reads that the ‘Kisan First Programme’ is the name given to the multi-pronged activities aimed at creating awareness regarding Farmer Producer Organisations. 

The programme lays emphasis on alleviating poverty and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for the rural poor and ultra-poor farmers of 6 districts of Jammu and Kashmir. 

“The target of the programme is to enhance the income potential of 10,000 farmers in six districts of Kashmir, namely Shopian, Ganderbal, Baramulla, Budgam, Kupwara and Pulwama,” it reads. 

The event commenced with opening notes by Dr Tahir Nazir—J&K State Head ISAP. Later the stage was then taken over by Imam Din, Managing Director of J&K HPMC, who addressed the farmers. 

On the occasion, the attending BoDs and CEOs were also felicitated for their active participation. At the event, Deputy Director, National Horticulture Board, J&K Chapter, Sansar Ahmed, shared the Horticulture schemes in Kashmir. 

The Vice Chancellor of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST-K), Dr Nazir Ahmed Ganai enlightened the farmers with his in-depth understanding of the local scenario and its challenges—(KNO)
