‘Innovation is the catchword’, says Prof Manhas


Jammu: Prof. (Dr.) Parikshat Singh Manhas took over as Chairman, J&K Board of School Education (JKBOSE), on Friday. He was received by the Secretary JKBOSE Manisha Sareen, along with other senior officers Dr. Sudhir Singh, Joint Secretary Secrecy, Altaf Hussain, Joint Secretary Examination, Sikander Lal Joint Secretary General, Dheeraj Jandial, Financial Advisor/CAO, and the officers and officials of Board.

In his introductory address, he urged everyone to keep working with zeal, commitment and clarity of purpose for the growth of this organisation which has been serving the society for the last almost five decades.

“Innovation and dynamism are the catchwords to cater to the growing need of the stakeholders in the 21st century, and we all will have to come up to the mark with collective and collaborative efforts. As the employees of JKBOSE have always made their mark in tough times that J&K has witnessed during turmoil and calamities, I am sanguine that the same magnitude of enthusiasm will continue to enrich the aura of this grand organisation”, he added.

Prof. Manhas is a Professor of The Business School University of Jammu and has worked as Rector, Udhampur Campus, of the University, Director, School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, University of Jammu, Coordinator, Global Understanding Course being run in collaboration with East Carolina University, USA and Coordinator, UGC – Innovative Programme. 

He has also worked as CEO & Promoter Director, University of Jammu Special Purpose Vehicle Foundation – A Section 8 Company, Director, University Business Incubation and Innovation Centre, University of Jammu and Member, Task Force for Implementation of National Education Policy 2020, Government of Jammu & Kashmir. 

He is Co-Leader, Organizing Committee of UNWTO Affiliate Members Working Group on Tourism & Culture Synergies, Regional Director – Asia and Eastern Europe for CED – World Centre of Excellence for Destinations (UNWTO – Affiliate Member). 

He was also Fellow of the Australia India Institute, New Delhi and Member of the Tourism Advisory Board of the then State of Jammu & Kashmir which was headed by the Chief Minister of State of Jammu & Kashmir in addition to being a Visiting Professor, Taylor’s School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts, Taylors University, Malaysia and Honorary Visiting Professor, Atal Bihari Bajpayee School of Management and Entrepreneurship, Jawaharlal Nehru University (ABVSM&E), and Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management (EAHM), Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Zhubanov State University of Akotbe, Akotbe, Republic of Kazakhstan, Bashkir State University, Ufa, Bashkortostan, Russia and Graduate School of Business, ESAN University, Lima, Peru.

He has been awarded Major Projects as the Project leader under the UK India Education and Research Initiative (UKIERI) Thematic Partnerships Scheme during the year 2015 and 2017. He was a Commonwealth Fellow for the year 2014, Hungarian Faculty Research Fellow in 2013 under the Indo Hungarian Educational Exchange Program for the year 2012-13, Shastri Indo-Canadian fellow in 2009 and won Career Award for Best Young Teacher (CAYT) awarded by All Indian Council for Technical Education (AICTE) – Government of India, 2009.
