MeT Predicts Rain,Snowfall over higher reaches likely from 9-10th Feb
Srinagar, 08 Feb: The Meteorological department on Wednesday predicted light to moderate Rain / snowfall over higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir.
An official of MeT told the Kashmir Scroll that Widespread light to moderate snowfall/rain in Jammu and Kashmir with chances of heavy snowfall over higher reaches from afternoon of 9th till 10th February.
He said weather may affect surface transportation on Srinagar-Jammu highway on 10th February.
Meanwhile, Faizan Arif an independent weatherman told The Kashmir Scroll that rain/snow may commence from north Kashmir parts from tomorrow morning onwards and by late afternoon most places in Kashmir would have received a spell of rain/snow.
He said that Improvement in weather is expected from Friday late morning onwards. However, a few places may continue to record rain/snow till evening.
“Snowfall chances will vary from area to area and it is difficult to predict whether any particular area will receive snow.” he said.
He said that as per the current forecast chances of snow is 40-60% in North Kashmir plains, 30 – 50% in Central Kashmir plains, 20-40% in Anantnag and Pulwama, 40-50% in Shopian and Kulgam.—(KS)
