HC issues bailable warrant against SSB Chairman
Srinagar, Feb 17: The High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh Friday issued a bailable warrant against Chairman, J&K Service Selection Board (JKSSB) to secure his presence before it to explain why he has failed to comply with court orders.
A single bench of Justice Vinod Chatterji Koul issued bailable warrant in the amount of Rs. 20,000 for securing the presence of Chairman SSB with a direction to concerned Senior Superintendent of Police to execute the warrant.
The court passed the directions in a contempt plea filed by Asima Muzaffar seeking implementation of judgment passed by the court in August 2017 whereby the SSB was directed to supply the requisite information to the petitioner as was directed by the State Information Commission vide its order issued in January 2013.
In a previous hearing, the court had noted that the respondents have neither placed on record the documents indicating the requisite information with respect to the final award sheet which was directed by the State Information Commission in 2013 nor have handed over the same to the petitioner till date.
The court had granted last and final opportunity to respondents to do the needful for complying with the judgment/order passed in 2017, failing which Chairman SSB was directed to remain present in person before it.
When the matter was taken up for hearing today, Justice Koul noted that neither the needful has been done nor the Chairman, SSB, has caused an appearance before the court.
"Therefore, this court is left with no option but to issue bailable warrants in the amount of Rs. 20,000 for securing the presence of Chairman, J&K Service Selection Board. The warrants shall be executed through concerned Senior Superintendent of Police," the court said.
The court will take up the matter for hearing on March 03.
