Syed Taqwa Shah: An enthusiastic writer, author and a teacher

“I have used hurdles that came my way to motivate myself”

For Syed Taqwa Shah, a passionate writer who hails from Safa Kadal locality of downtown Srinagar, perseverance has been the key to success.

Taqwa, 26, a graduate, is currently a school teacher at Kids Nursery School in Bemina locality of Srinagar. Despite having grown up in a difficult time when Kashmir was hit by crisis after crises, Taqwa kept herself motivated and stayed on course by writing about different public issues.

For her, Kashmir’s young author Azra Mufti is a role model who motivated her passion for writing.

Taqwa believes that there is no one who has not faced hurdles while following their respective passions. But what sets her apart from others is that the fact that she has used the hurdles that have come her way to motivate herself and pursue her dream of becoming an author.

“Had my family and friends not been there, thinking about this would not have been possible. It is due to their support that I have been able t achieve something in my life. I still have a long way to go,” she said.

Being interested in writing, Taqwa first important public reach out was through an article for a prominent English daily in Kashmir. In the article, she appeal people to follow SOPs to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 infection in a creative way and her way of reaching out was appreciated.

Her recent writings focusing on health and women empowerment have been published in different newspapers and websites. She is also the co-author of Soul Speaks published by Notion Press, India.

Talking to Brighter Kashmir, Taqwa said that she wants to give a message to the youth of valley that they should not waste their time on issues which may spoil their dreams and those of their families.

“As far as our Kashmir is concerned, due to the lack of employment, youth of valley are going for bad things like drugs. It’s the time that we can create something new which will help our upcoming generation to become their inspiration,” Taqwa said. (Brighter Kashmir) reports
