Dual Degrees: UGC asks universities to create process allowing students to pursue two degrees simultaneously
UGC has asked all universities, colleges and all Higher Educational Institutions in India to create a process and develop mechanism to allow students to pursue their dual degrees.
University Grants Commission, UGC has asked all universities, colleges and all Higher Educational Institutions in India to create a process and develop mechanism to allow students to pursue their dual degrees. In the latest notice issued today, January 10, 2023, the commission has asked all HEI's to work towards this.
UGC has already released the guidelines which will now allow students to pursue dual degrees - two degrees of their choice, simultaneously. The latest notice issued on ugc.ac.in suggests that students have faced difficulties while trying to seek admission in the dual degree programmes.
"It has come to the notice of the UGC that students are facing difficulties as HEIs insist on migration certificates I School Learning Certificate. In the absence of these certificates, the students are not granted admission and that defeats the facility of pursuing two academic programmes simultaneously,” stated the notice issued by UGC.
In order to facilitate this process and make the process easier for students, universities and colleges affiliated to UGC have been asked to create an appropriate and simplified mechanism for students to follow.

In April 2022, UGC issued the guidelines which has allowed students to pursue two degrees at the same time. As per these guidelines, students can pursue two degrees in three ways - physical mode, one degree in physical and online mode or both in online mode. (Times Now) reports
