Rajasthan paper leak spree: 6 competitive exams under radar due to violations

Jaykishan Sharma,India Today : About six government examinations in Rajashtan are on the cusp of controversy, paving the way for doubts about transparent recruitment in the Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot-led system. In the REET (Rajasthan Eligibility Exam for Teachers), an investigation revealed that the exam paper was leaked three days before it reached the strong room.
In the controversial REET, more than 26 lakh candidates applied for the examination wherein 16 lakh applicants had appeared for the competitive test. Also, the last time the examination was conducted was September 2021.
On the other hand, the Patwari Exam conducted by the Rajasthan Subordinate and Ministerial Services Selection Board (RSMSSB), is under speculation after 12 members of a gang were arrested in connection with an alleged paper leak case.
As many as 15.62 lakh candidates had registered for the Rajashtan Patwari exam for 5,378 vacant posts. Patwari exam relates to recruitment for land-revenue administrative work.
The Rajasthan JEN Exam, which was conducted in December 2020, has been cancelled due to an alleged paper leak. The fate of 31,752 candidates who appeared for the exam for 533 posts, thus remains unsure.
Rajasthan's Librarian Exam, which was previously held in September 2019 for nearly 700 posts, has turned into a controversy after police made arrests after paper leak surfaced in a probe. 50,000 candidates appeared in the said recruitment exam.
RAJASTHAN TEACHER RECRUITMENT EXAM PAPER LEAK
Rajasthan's Pharmacist Examination has not been conducted yet, despite five announcements in this regard. The recruitment test is slated to be held for the posts of 1,736 librarians in the state.
Meanwhile, candidates took to the streets after Rajasthan Second Grade Teacher Exam 2022 was cancelled due to a paper leak. The Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) has cancelled the 2nd grade teacher competitive examination 2022 for General Knowledge as the paper was leaked on Saturday morning. The RPSC 2nd grade paper 2022 circulated on social media before its commencement, prompting the authorities to cancel the exam.
No less than 44 people, including 37 students and seven experts have been arrested in Udaipur in connection with the paper leak.
The exam was scheduled from 9 am to 11 pm on Saturday.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Saturday said the leak of the teacher recruitment exam paper was unfortunate. He assured stringent action against the perpetrators. He also said that Rajasthan was the only state in the country that took note of such untoward incidents and taken action.
The new date for the Saturday paper will be released soon, he said while adding, "We will make a more stringent law."
BJP's MLA from Churu, Rajendra Rathore, who is Deputy Leader of the Opposition in Rajasthan Assembly, took to Twitter to side up from BYJM (Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha) protestors outside the CM's residence.
"The future of the youth of the state is being ruined due to the paper mafia flourishing under the patronage of the Gehlot government. Today, in protest against the paper leak of Senior Teacher Recruitment Examination 2022, the effigy of the Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot was burnt in the Mandawa assembly," he wrote.
"Do our workers not even have the right to protest when the paper is leaked in Rajasthan? Education Minister's residence Administration should not try to crush the struggle of BJYM workers who came to register their protest by becoming the voice of lakhs of youths," he said.(India Today) reports
