Non-availability of road in Shopian village: Pregnant lady loses life on way to hospital, say locals
Stage protest, say area records 3rd such death in last one year; DC terms allegations baseless
Shopian, Dec 25: A pregnant lady lost her life due to non-availability of road connectivity in Mujpathri area of South Kashmir's Shopian district on Sunday, locals alleged.
The residents of Chadak Mohalla Mujpathri told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a lady identified as Zoitina Banoo, wife of Mohammed Hussain of Chadak Mohalla Mujpathri in Shopian had labour pain and they were not able to take her to the hospital on time due to non-availability of road connectivity.
They said that they took her in a cot for around two kilometres and she gave birth to baby on the cot but died on way to hospital.
They said that had there been the road connectivity, they could have taken her to the hospital on time.
Soon after the incident, they staged a protest and claimed that this is the third such incident in the area in last one year as they are unable to take patients to the hospital on time.
They requested higher ups to look into the matter and take immediate steps so that the area can get road connectivity and innocent lives would be saved in the future.
Meanwhile, District Magistrate, Sachin Kumar Vaishya while talking to KNO termed the allegations baseless, saying that “It's not true.”—(KNO)
