The path into the Indian Administrative Services is a tough one, but this Coolie from Kerala managed to crack the Kerala Public Service Exams and make space for himself in the IAS. Sreenath K, a Kerala Coolie, cracked the KPSC KAS Exam with the help of free Wi-Fi available at the railway stations. Here is his journey.

Sreenath K hails from Munnar ad worked as a Coolie at Cochin Railway Station. Aspiring for a better life for himself and his family, Sreenath decided to start studying in order to secure a government job.

However, due to his work timings and load, he often found himself without any time to study. In 2016, Railtel and Google lunched free Wi-Fi across several railway stations in India.

After the launch of free Wi-Fi, Sreenath was able to study while he was working. He would download the audiobooks and videos and prepare for the KPSC Exam while working.

As opposed to many other candidates who spend on coaching and extra classes, Sreenath spent his money on a memory card, phone and a pair of earphones. After preparing for the exams, he appeared for the Kerala Public Service Examination for the post of Village Assistant and passed with a total score of 82 percent.

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal also congratulated Sreenath on his achievement back in 2018 when his story was shared by Google India.

Reports have further stated that Sreenath went on to appear for the UPSC Civil Services Exams and became an IAS officer after his 4th attempt at UPSC CSE. However, Times Now has not been able to verify these reports.
