Srinagar, Aug 31: The Jammu and Kashmir School Education Department (SED) Wednesday informed that the annual regular exams for 10th to 12th standard for the difficult areas of the UT shall be conducted in the second week of April, officials said.
The officials said that only 30-35 percent (pc) of the areas in Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir are such where conducting the annual regular exams of 10th to 12th standard in the month of March is difficult.
Principal Secretary, School Education Department, Alok Kumar in an order said that the department has accordingly decided to conduct the exams in these areas in the second week of April instead of first week of March which is the scheduled date for the exams of other areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Even though examinations in these difficult areas shall be conducted separately, the result of these examinations can be declared simultaneously,” Kumar said.
He added, “The difficult areas constitute approximately 30-35 percent of the area of the UT. The total number of students from these areas is not more than 10-12 percent due to the sparse population. Therefore, the evaluation of answer scripts for these students shall take less time.”
Kumar said this while issuing the official order for shifting the annual regular board exams to March session.
“The theory examination in UT of Jammu and Kashmir shall be conducted from the first week of March as per the present Academic calendar of Jammu Summer Zone except in difficult areas of Jammu region and some areas of Kashmir region,” he said.
The order further reads that the examination in these difficult areas shall be delayed and held in the second week of April as per the calendar proposed, when these areas are fully accessible and the delivery of the examination stationary and confidential material is ensured.
