Job scam: Police Arrests 7th Accused
Srinagar, Sept 12: Police here on Monday arrested the seven accused in the recently unearthed recruitment scam, officials said.
The police have already constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by SDPO Kothibagh to investigate the case involving cheating of job aspirants of lakhs of rupees by promising them jobs in Jammu and Kashmir.
The case (FIR No. 73/2022) under 420, 468, 120-B IPC of Police Station Kothlbagh was registered recently and so far at least seven persons have been arrested including one reportedly affiliated with ‘Muslim Rashtriya Manch’- an arm of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
The latest to arrest in the case happens to be retired government master—Peer Mohammad Ashraf son of Peer Wali Mohammad of Shangus Nowgam Anantnag.
The SIT, constituted by SSP Srinagar Rakesh Balwal, has been asked to take up the investigation of case “forthwith” and has been asked to “ensure submission of timely progress report to SSP Srinagar on fortnightly basis till filing of chargesheet.”
The members of the SIT include SHOs of police station Kothibagh, Maisuma, Investigating Officer of police station Kothibagh, An ASI of Kothibagh Police station besides Reader to SDPO Kothibagh and Reader to SP East.
The other arrestees include Bashir Ahmad Gagloo of Kursoo Ghat Padshahibagh Srinagar(Running business of Houseboats), Manzoor Ahmad Ganie of Barsoo Ganderbal (Property Dealer), Abdul Rashid Sheikh of Haran Ganderbal at present Gousia Colony Bemina Srinagar( Govt Employee-PDD as Telephone Operator), Mohammad Abdullah Mir of Shilwat Sumbal Bandipora (Owner of Milk Factory “TAHOOR”), Nazir Ahmad Ganie of Divsar Kulgam-(Property Dealer) and Ashiq Hussain Baba of Babagund Rafiabad Dangiwacha Baramulla (Govt Employee- orderly in JKPSC)
“It is pertinent to mention that all the accused persons were hand-in-glove with each other and with some other touts of Jammu province as well as with some outside UT of J&K also,” police said in said.(GNS)
