In March 2022, there's talk about a shift in the academic session for Kashmir. Instead of the usual timeline, the Jammu and Kashmir Education Department is considering moving the session to March 2023. This decision, made at the government level, is expected to be formalized soon with an official order.
While this change is in the pipeline, there's confusion among students, especially those in classes below 10th. They're wondering if this shift will also apply to them.
As per the current plan, the annual board exams for classes 10th, 11th, and 12th will indeed take place in March 2023, rather than the usual November-December slot in 2022. However, students from 1st to 9th classes can expect their exams to remain scheduled for November 2022.
To clear any doubts, students in classes 10th, 11th, and 12th are advised to start preparing for the March session from this academic year itself.
Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, the J&K Chief Secretary, mentioned earlier this year that the region will adopt the National Education Policy (NEP-2020) from the current academic session onwards. Additionally, there's a plan to synchronize the academic calendar with the national one, ensuring uniformity across the country.
