KU’s B.Ed students demand deferment of exams

The B.Ed students of 1st and 2nd Semester Batch (2020-22) registered through the Directorate of Distance Education (DDE), of the University of Kashmir are demanding their exams be rescheduled which commences on the 10th of August 2022.

Jammu & Kashmir Students Movement (JKSM) learnt that the students who are going to appear in the examination in the second week of August are yet to receive the study material from the Directorate of Distance Education.

Notably, the admission process for B.Ed students of Session 2020 was completed in October last year.

“ We have to appear for exams of two semesters in August and the preparation gaps between papers are 1 or 2 days which is very less, DDE has not provided any study material to us either,” said a student.

Gazi Muzamil President of JKSM while expressing great resentment over the proposed date sheet of B.Ed 1st & 2nd Semester said that, “DDE, Kashmir University has failed to provide study material for which students had paid their money despite a passage of over 9 months.”

It should first provide the study material to its enrolled students and then issue a fresh date sheet, Gazi added

JKSM requested the Controller Examination Kashmir University to look into the matter and issue a fresh date sheet and Director DDE to provide study materials to students as soon as possible without giving them further mental trauma.

It also requested the Vice-Chancellor Prof Neelofar Khan to intervene and keep a close watch on DDE functioning so that its students don’t face any issues vis-a-vis their studies.(KNT)
