India likely to face Pakistan on August 28 in Asia Cup 2022
The 2022 edition of the Asia Cup cricket tournament is scheduled to take place in Sri Lanka next month. This year the competition will be played in the T20 format.
According to multiple reports, record-champions India are scheduled to take on Pakistan on August 28.
It will be the first meeting between the arch-rivals since the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 group stage match.
The 2022 edition of the Asia Cup is scheduled to take place in Sri Lanka from August 27 to September 11 this year.
The premier Asian tournament will be played in T20 format this year, as it was in 2016. That year it served as a preparatory tournament ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. And this year as well, with T20 World Cup 2022 on the cusp, the tournament will help the Asian teams to get into the groove.
It will be the first time since 2018 that the tournament will take place, and record title-holders and winners of the last two editions, India, will be eager to win the contest once more.
As per multiple reports, SLC has got the green light to host the tournament despite economic and political unrest in the country for the last few months.
The official schedule of the tournament will be out soon. But as per reports, arch-rivals India and Pakistan are scheduled to face off against each other on August 28.
