Man smothers son to death & dumps his body in water tank after incurring losses in IPL betting
Kolar : In yet another shocking incident, a 32-year-old man reportedly suffocated his 12-year-old kid and buried his body in a water tank here on Thursday. The boy had told his mother about his father's IPL gambling addiction.
Manikanta, a barber, has been recognised as the accused. According to cops, Nikhil Kumar told his mother about his father's addiction to IPL betting and the significant financial losses he had sustained, which angered the accused, news agency

According to cops, the accused lost a lot of money on betting throughout the IPL season. Nikhil, the victim, observed multiple money lenders visiting his father's store and demanding repayments.
He told his mother about it, and she questioned the accused, resulting in a violent quarrel between the couple,

Enraged by it, the accused rode his son to school on his motorbike on Tuesday and committed the crime. According to police, he suffocated the child near the water tank of Setty Madamangala village in the Kolar district. He afterwards dumped the body into the water tank.
The cops first assumed it was a drowning case, and the accused pretended to be unaware. However, when questioned, he admitted to the crime.
