Mainly Dry Weather In Store As Mercury Rises In Jammu and Kashmir
Srinagar, May 09 : Weatherman on Monday forecast mainly dry weather for next 24 hours over Jammu and Kashmir with very light rain/thunderstorm at one or two places on the higher reaches towards afternoon.
A meteorological department official here told GNS that no “large change” was expected in the weather for subsequent two days.
He said Srinagar recorded a low of 13.7°C against 12.8°C on the previous night. The temperature, he said, was 3.0°C above normal during this time of the year for the summer capital.
Qazigund recorded a low of 11.2°C against 9.4°C on the previous night. The temperature was 2.0°C above normal for the gateway town of Kashmir, he said.
Pahalgam which had 2.8mm of rain in last 24 hours till 0830 hours today recorded a minimum of 5.7°C against 6.3°C last night. The temperature was 0.2°C above normal for the famous resort in south Kashmir during this time of the season, he said.
Kokernag recorded a low of 13.0°C against 11.2°C on the previous night. It was 3.8°C above normal during this time of the season for the place in south Kashmir, the official said.
Gulmarg recorded a low of 9.0°C against 7.0°C on the previous night, the official said.
While 5.2°C is normal for the world famous skiing resort during this time of the season, the official said that the temperature was 3.8°C above normal for the place in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Kupwara town in north Kashmir recorded a low of 12.3°C against 10.0°C on the previous night. The temperature was 3.0°C above normal for the district, the official told Global News Service.
Jammu recorded a low of 26.1°C against 23.7°C on the previous night, the official said. The temperature was 3.1°C above normal for J&K’s winter capital, he said. Banihal recorded a low of 12.4°C, Batote 14.5°C and Bhaderwah 11.2°C, the official added. (GNS)
