LG, Abdullahs, Top Civil And Police Officers Greet People
Srinagar, May 02 : Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the culmination of the holy month of Ramazan, is being celebrated by Muslims across this part of the globe on Tuesday.
Unlike last year when prayers were barred to contain covid-19 pandemic, there will be congregational Eid prayers at Hazratbal as well as shrines and mosques on May 3.
There will be no prayers however at the historic Jamia Masjid or Eidgah. The administration said that holding Eid prayers at Jamia Masjid was “not possible under present circumstances”.
While Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid expressed ‘dismay’ over imposing of conditions by the authorities including undertaking for peaceful conduct of Eid prayers, the later said that it was “difficult to have peaceful conduct of Eid prayers at Jamia” as managing body of the grand mosque declined to propone prayers and hold same at 7 a.m.
“ Anjum e Auqaaf Jamia Srinagar has failed to reach any consensus among its members on request of administration to schedule the prayers at 7:00 am on the day of Eid Ul Fitr to handle the situation efficiently in case of any Law & Order problems and to ensure public safety and security,” a senior police officer said, adding, “There are many reliable inputs of disruption and clashes in Jamia masjid after namaz is over which forced administration to request Jamia authorities for preponing of prayers at 7 am.”
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Secretary, Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, and other police and several civil officers besides politicians extended greetings to people on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, wishing them well-being and prosperity.
Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha has greeted the people on the joyous occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
The Lt Governor, in his message, said that the festival of Eid highlights the joy of sharing. Eid-ul-Fitr marks the culmination of the period of fasting and prayer during the holy month of Ramzan and inspires all to work towards building a compassionate, harmonious, peaceful and prosperous society, he added.
" May this auspicious day strengthen mutual goodwill and instill in us a sense of unity and pride in the syncretic culture of the UT of J&K”, the Lt Governor said.
In his message on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr, the Chief Secretary said that the charity and good deeds observed during the holy month promote harmony and fraternity in society and inspires people to carry forward the principles of honesty, generosity, and empathy in their day-to-day lives.
He expressed hope that the festival will further strengthen the bonds of communal harmony and bring greater amity, and tranquillity in the secular social fabric of Jammu and Kashmir.
National Conference Party President, Member of Parliament from Srinagar Dr Farooq Abdullah, and Vice President Omar Abdullah extended warm greetings to people on Eid ul Fitr.
In his Eid greetings, Dr Farooq said, “I extend my warm wishes to people on the auspicious occasion praying that the Almighty accepts our month-long fasting, repentance, prayers and rectitude.
May Almighty foster unity in the ranks of Muslims, and furthers the cause of amity and brotherhood in J&K, Ladakh and elsewhere in the world. I urge the affluent class in the society to help those who do not have any resources to celebrate the Eid.
“ The prevailing situation has regrettably increased the social gap with uncertainty looming large over the poorest of poor, daily wagers, marginal farmers pushing them to the brink of hunger. On the auspicious occasion of Eid ul Fitr, the well off in our society should lend all support to the people in need.”
On the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, Director General of Police Dilbag Singh greeted people of J&K, families of martyrs, Police and security forces personnel and their families a joyful Eid.
In his message, DGP has said that it is a day of rejoicing, blessing, peace and to celebrate it together. He has expressed his hope that the festival will bring joy and happiness among the people of Jammu and Kashmir including cops, their families and the families of police martyrs.
DGP has wished that the Almighty guides us all and shows us the right path always.
IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar greets people of Kashmir on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. “May God shower his choicest blessings and bless all with peace, safety, good health and prosperity.”
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad also conveyed warmest wishes to people of Jammu and Kashmir particularly of Srinagar District on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
The Deputy Commissioner in his message said that this Eid is first of its kind in last three years of the Pandemic where people will meet and greet each other and share joy of the festival. He added while people are delighted to celebrate the completion of Ramadan, the spirit should continue throughout the year.
SSP Srinagar, Rakesh Balwal IPS also wished all citizens of Srinagar a very happy Eid. He further wished that this holy festival may bring peace, Prosperity and happiness in lives of all. (GNS)
