Youth Forum organizes event on drug abuse
Sports activities must to stay away from drugs : SP Lakshay to youth
Srinagar, Apr 04 : Youth Forum organized an event on rising menace of drug abuse at Natipora area of Srinagar.
According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the seminar was addressed by doctors, senior citizens of the locality and top police officials. Several youth and elderly persons participated in the event.
Aijaz Bhat Secretary Masjid Taqwa Azad Basti, Ghulam Mohammad Hafiz President of Masjid Umar Azad Basti and Dr Bilal Ahmad Wani and Dr Manzoor Ahmad from Zonal Medical Officer (ZMO) office Batamaloo spoke during the event.
Superintendent of Police (SP) South, Lakshay Sharma and Station House Officer (SHO) Chanapora GM RATHER also participated in the event.
SP South while speaking on the event said that the drug menace has caught the society and the people need to support the law enforcing agency to eradicate the menace from the society.
Sharma also said that the drug addicts need to be treated as victims, but the drug dealers have to be dealt with strictly as per the law.
“Youth need to change their behaviour. They need to indulge in sports activities. Run at least five kilometres a day on a regular basis, which will help them to stay away from the drugs,” he said.
Shakir Riyaz Khan, President of Youth Forum while welcoming the people on the occasion, said that the group of youth have started working on drug menace and they will ensure that at least their locality is free from the drugs.
“It is the beginning of our journey. We will continue our endeavour to eradicate the drugs from the society,” Shakir said.
