School Edu Deptt likely to fix responsibility of 10 students on one teacher : Official
Srinagar, Apr 04 : The School Education Department (SED) is mulling to initiate a process of fixing the responsibility of 10 students on one teacher for boosting and better learning outcomes.
Farukh Paul, the Under Secretary with the Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Mehta in an official communiqué issued to the principal secretary to government for School Education Department said, “The department shall roll out a people mentor initiative to fix responsibility of 10 students on one teacher for boosting learning outcomes.”
Principal Secretary, School Education Department, B K Singh told Rising Kashmir that the official orders in this regard will be issued soon.
“We are in a process of implementing the orders of rolling-out the people mentor initiative wherein one teacher will boost and educate nearly 10 students to improve their quality of education,” Singh said.
Earlier, in December-2021, the government had said that teachers would be held accountable and responsible for fall in unacceptable dropout rate of students studying in public schools of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Chief Secretary, Arun Kumar Mehta in a review meeting of Samagra Shiksha—a centrally sponsored scheme directed the School Education Department that the fall of drop out ratio beyond an acceptable level in a given school should be made an area of responsibility of the teachers in that school and accountability of the errant teachers fixed in case the enrolment declines below the acceptable level.”
