Class 10th: 8 Government Schools including 2 in Budgam produce 0% result
Budgam, Feb 20: A Government School in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district has produced zero percent in the recently declared class 10th annual 2021 regular examination.
The overall pass percentage of students in class 10th exams was recorded at 78.74 percent.
The educational institution in question is Government High School Sitharan located in the Khag division of Budgam.
Sitharan is 38 kilometers away from the district headquarter.
Official sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that all the 9 students of the school cut a sorry figure in the examination.
Besides, Government School at Sitharan, seven other schools have also produced zero percent results.
Locals said that the school in Sitharan continues to show poor performance and this year too, all the 9 students among which five were girls failed to qualify for the class 10th examination.
The Head Master of the school blamed students claiming that they never attended classes. He cited Covid-19 also a reason for the poor performance. “The students are living below the poverty line and can’t afford smartphones to attend online classes,” he said.
Some of the students claimed that school functioned without any English teacher.
Pertinently, two schools from Budgam have produced zero percent results this year followed by one each school in Srinagar, Kupwara, Ganderbal, Bandipora, Baramulla, and Anantnag.
In Srinagar, the school with zero percent result was Government Boys High School Lasjan. Besides Government High School in Sitharan, one more school in Budgam had produced zero percent result and the school was Government School Cahdoora. (KNT)
