Withdraw UAPA Charges Against Kashmiri MBBS Students, Resolve Cricket Celebration Controversy Amicably : J&K Students Association
Srinagar, Oct 27 : J&K Students Association Tuesday urged J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to withdraw UAPA Charges on humanitarian grounds against Kashmiri Students who celebrated Pakistan victory and raised slogans.
In a statement according to Srinagar based news agency, National spokesperson of Association Nasir Khuehami said that, UAPA charges against students is a harsh punishment and will ruin their futures & will further alienate them.
We are not justifying their act, but it will result in their career assassination.
The charges will have serious consequences on the academic and future career of the students.
He said, “ It may have serious repercussions, both in the long term and short term.
The charges will have serious psyco-somatic consequences on the students.
Govt should give Chance to the Students to restore their faith in the ethical standing and the fair constitution of India, so that their futures are preserved,” he maintained
Khuehami said that medical students are the cream of every society. They are expected to behave in an orderly manner and not go overboard.
We hope that in the larger interest of society and country a large hearted approach would be shown towards the Medical Students of Kashmir and they not be put under any case.
No doubt they erred but we hope that they will be given a chance to return to studies and future of them not destroyed in the larger interest of the country, he added.
The National General Secretary of Association said that Campus voices should not be dealt with with such stringent laws.
Their act has hurt the sentiment of people here, but we need to have enough space in the system to bring them to the table and have counselling.
Slapping UAPA to them will put their career and whole parents resources at stake, he emphasized.
Younus added that, let’s give students a chance and help them to continue their high repute degree.
Doctors are important pillars of society ; their contribution is enormous, for the sake of the larger interest of society.
We Requested Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to urgently look into the matter, withdraw harsh UAPA charges, so that their future is preserved.
