Centre extends COVID-19 restrictions till October End
The central government has extended COVID-19 guidelines across the country till the end of October to further curb the infections.
The number of COVID-19 cases is on a steady decline across the country currently, but the Centre has been reiterating, again and again, to not relax any major COVID-19 restrictions as the fear of the third wave of the pandemic still remains intact.
The Centre has now decided to extend the COVID-19 restrictions across the country till October 31 to prevent any further spread of the pandemic.
This has been done as there are a few states which are still showing a relatively high number of COVID cases, challenging the public health of the nation.
A meeting was conducted between the Ministry of Home Affairs and the chief secretaries of all the states and union territories, where Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla stated the possibility of proper COVID-19 restrictions not being followed during the upcoming festive season which might lead to an increase in COVID cases.
He stated that even though the number of cases is on a decline, it is essential to enforce COVID-19 guidelines to make sure that the festivals are being celebrated in an appropriate and safe environment.
He said that even though the number of cases is decreasing, there is still a localized spread of the virus in several states.
