Offline Classes should Restart in phased manner : JKEC
Srinagar, July 08 :
JK Education Chamber (JKEC) has urged the government to start offline classes in a phased manner.
In a statement, the spokesperson of JKEC has said that the opening of schools in offline mode is essential for the overall development of the students which is not possible in online classes.
He said that medical experts have also opined that the physical presence of students and teachers in class is much more useful than online teaching.
“ Most of the mental health experts are of the opinion that engagement of students in class rooms can prevent them from becoming prey to various social evils.
In the present scenario, when Covid-19 cases have significantly reduced, offline classes must replace the online education which is being followed for the last one and a half years,” said spokesperson of JKEC.
He further said that when malls, restaurants and other services have been resumed, why students should be kept away from schools.
JKEC has requested the education department to take into account the number of students who would attend offline classes and also ensure a stringent Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
Pertinent to mention that Covid positivity rate is dropping below 3 per cent across the country and many states have already chalked out a schedule for reopening of schools in phased manner.
“ Under such circumstances the government should start physical classes in Jammu and Kashmir too. Otherwise, it would affect the academic growth of students.
During last almost two years, students of Jammu and Kashmir have not seen schools and have not enjoyed the company of their teachers and class mates.
Meanwhile, most of the students have become addicts to mobile phones in the garb of online learning. The same has resulted in a number of side effects like social problems including the recent alarming rate of suicides.”
