CBSE to conduct Class 12 board exams only for major subjects
New Delhi, May 23 :
CBSE has been contemplating several options for Class 12 Board exams, including conducting them only for the major subjects. However, nothing is final yet.
Amid the ongoing second wave of Covid-19, the Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE, has been contemplating several options for Class 12 Board exams, including conducting them only for the major subjects.
And looking at the current scenario, the board has proposed to the ministry that Class 12 students can appear for only one language and three elective subjects only.
Based on the performance of students in these subjects, the result of the fifth and sixth subjects will be decided. However, nothing is final yet.
Further, the duration of each exam will be curtailed to one-and-a-half-hour only instead of three hours, with multiple-choice questions and very short answer type questions.
“ The Board has been holding discussions on Class 12 exams which were postponed in April due to the pandemic. However, since the situation is still far from normal, the Board is mulling various options which include conducting the exam for the major subjects.
Cancellation of exams is also not out of the question, looking at the scenario. However, no final decision has been taken yet." A CBSE source informed India Today.
