Defence Minister Rajnath Singh yesterday chaired a national consultation to discuss conduct of Class 12 exams and professional courses entrance exams, reports said.
The discussions were held on two issues.
The board exams to be conducted for Class 12th by the Central Board of Secondary Education and other State Boards and the All-India Entrance examinations for various higher education institutions and professional courses, reports added.
Various options regarding the methodology, process, duration and timings of the exams were discussed, reports said adding during the meeting, Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said the entire country has come together to ensure the safety and academic welfare of the students and smooth functioning of the education system.
He expressed confidence that the government will be able to arrive at an informed, and collaborative decision regarding Class 12 board exams and remove uncertainty among students and parents.
The Minister, according to reports said keeping in view the present circumstances, government decided to cancel the CBSE Board examinations of Class 10th and evaluate through internal assessment but Class-12th examinations are very important to decide the future of a student.
He also expressed his gratitude to the Defence Minister for giving his time and valuable suggestions relating to the exams.
