School With Single Teacher Remains Closed for 4 Consecutive Days
Uri (Baramulla), Mar 26 :
Government Boys Primary School in Thala Sultandaki with a single teacher has remained closed for four consecutive days after a single teacher catering the students has been allegedly playing truant every now and then.
They said that the school was thrown open last week, however the teacher concerned has not been attending the education institute for last four days, forcing the students sit back at their homes.
Former Sarpanch Sultandaki village in Uri Gulzar Ahmad Mir said that the teacher has shifted the institute from its established location to his home ; in latter’s bid to swindle the building rent.
“ He (teacher) every now and then purchases furniture and other paraphernalia for the school but instead of providing them to students uses them for his own,” he said adding that “Even the mid-day meal amount supposed to be credited to the accounts’ of students hasn’t been provided.”
Ruing official apathy, the locals said that despite approaching the Zonal Education Officer into it, nothing has been done in this regard.
When contacted CEO Baramulla Ghulam Mohammad Lone told GNS that he will confirm why the school is closed for this much time.
