Allow online classes forthwith : Srinagar admin issues notice to DPS

Srinagar district official has issued a warrant against the Delhi Public School (DPS) principal after a complaint by the parents of a 2nd standard student and directed the school to allow the student to take online classes’ forthwith.
In the warrant, the Additional District Magistrate, Srinagar, has asked the principal of the school to appear before his court on Saturday at 10:30 am to clear his position.
The development came after reports that the school had barred a 2nd standard student from attending the classes over failure to pay the transport fees.
The letter sent to the DPS by the district authorities further reads that “falling which action, as warranted under norms, shall be initiated against you.”
Earlier, Wajahat Waseem and Nuzhat Wajahat, parent to Anabia Salsabeel, a 2nd standard student at the school, had alleged that she was barred by the school authorities from taking online classes for not paying the transport fee towards the school.
In a written complaint filed to the Committee for Fixation and Regulation of Fee of Private Schools J-K, the parents had claimed that they were charged transport fees by the school ‘for the curfew and lockdown period, they were not supposed to pay’, while the Additional District Magistrate noted in the warrant that the “ monthly tuition fee and other charges have been paid as per the fee structure. ”
In their follow-up complaint against the school, the parents said : “ It is the case of a little innocent girl child of class 2nd whose parents are fighting for the education rights of their daughter in a country, where the Right to Education is a fundamental right and are being exploited as well harassed by the powerful, influential and rich who are drunk with power and riches.”
