In Srinagar, a network of libraries with 45,000 books, 6 lac online

The Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Shahid Iqbal Chaudhary on Saturday said that a network of libraries with 45,000 books has been set up in Srinagar.
“ Reading and writing has always been intrinsic to cultural life of Srinagar. We’ve set up a network of libraries with 45,000 books,” tweeted Chaudhary.
He further added : “ The one in Bagh-e-Mehtab is among five more coming up besides open libraries. In addition to 45,000 books, 6 lakh online books/resources are being made available.”
Chaudhary said that the libraries have been designed to reflect the local culture, including carpeted floors with cushions for seating.
“ There are special sections for senior citizens and children. Arrangements for career counselling have also been made,” he added.
