Paramedical Candidates Protest Against AMT, GMC : Demand Finalising Selection List For Admission
The Paramedical candidates, who had submitted their forms for admission in different training courses in February last year, staged a protest at Government Medical College, Srinagar and later headed towards Press Enclave, demanding to finalise their selection list and the consequent admission in Government AMT School, Srinagar.
Scores of Paramedical candidates belonging to different parts of Kashmir protested and raised slogans against the AMT authorities who, according to the protesting candidates, had failed to generate the final selection list of candidates for admission in different courses.
“ We had submitted our forms in February 2020 for Paramedical courses, but the administration has failed to make the final selection list of candidates.
They had generated the tentative list in October last year and were continuously informing that the classes would start in no time,” said one of the protesting candidates.
The candidates also said that the BOPEE too had generated forms for the paramedical courses recently and are currently finalizing the admissions of the selected candidates, but the AMT, Srinagar has failed from generating the final selection list.
“ We were waiting for our admissions from last year’s October as our tentative list was generated in that month.
Almost 420 candidates from different parts of Kashmir are waiting for admissions to be completed so that the classes could start for our chosen courses,” said another candidate adding that the further delay in issuing the list is wasting their crucial time.
“ We have been pushed on the brink of committing suicide.
The authorities have frittered away our time and were telling us from months to wait for the admissions, but now they have cancelled our selection list.
We want them to roll back their decision of cancelling our selection list,” said one of the female students.
The candidates further said that when they approached Principal Govt AMT regarding the matter, she told them that their list was cancelled and were directed towards head Principal GMC Srinagar to raise the issue.
When the Kashmir News Bureau contacted Principal GMC, Srinagar, Dr. Samia Rahid, she said, “I have already talked to them (the protesting candidates) and have taken cognisance of the issue.”
When asked further questions, she dropped the call and did not respond.
