JKSSB likely to conduct Accounts Assistant and Class-IV exams in November
As per the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), India witnessed one of its worst phases of employment in April and May with an unemployment rate of 23.52% and 21.7%, respectively. India's unemployment rate fell to 6.67 percent in September from 8.35 percent in August, according to CMIE data. The unemployment rates for urban and rural areas in September was 8.45 percent and 5.86 percent, respectively.
The recent survey conducted by CMIE recorded around 6.5 lakh unemployed people in the Jammu and Kashmir with a sky-high unemployment rate of around 15.11 percent as compared to 7.3% in July 2019.
With such distressing trends, the hope for the government jobs in Jammu and Kashmir majorly depends on Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) and Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC). But the recent developments related to various posts first advertised over the years and then withdrawn by JKSSB left many people hopeless.
JKSSB recently withdrew around 1,005 vacant posts which were referred to the recruitment agency by different departments under SRO 202.
A notification was issued by Controller Examination, JKSSB, Jammu, Musheer Ahmed Mirza which stated, "In pursuance of instruction conveyed by the GAD in terms of Government order number 654-JK (GAD) of 2020 of June 19, 2020, the posts hereby are withdrawn for referring back to the GAD, for further action."
Scores of applicants were exasperated over this decision as many would not be eligible anymore to apply and take exams under new rules.
Besides, around 6 lakh people have applied for Accounts Assistant (Panchayats) and Class-IV posts for which JKSSB had notified a tentative schedule which was later described as changeable due to guidelines issued by the UT administration.
A press note was issued by JKSSB regarding the rumours about the delay in examinations in which it was clearly stated that there are lots of activities already going on at the ground level in J&K. Therefore, a holistic view will be taken to ensure secure, smooth and above all fair and transparent examination.
It mentioned that Jammu & Kashmir Services Selection Board is determined to hold all the examinations in a time-bound manner and release the selection lists without any undue delay keeping with the essence of Accelerated Recruitment drive. The final dates in this regard shall be notified in due course of time.
Jammu Links News talked to a senior official of JKSSB who clarified that owing to certain programmes run by UT administration, the exams are likely to be delayed and most probably be conducted in the month of November only because the recruitment is being done on a fast-track basis.
He further said that almost six lakh aspirants will be appearing for these exams hence the preparations required for the smooth conduct of examinations need to be done precisely even in remote areas. He also added that JKSSB is determined to conduct exams in November only.
Also, regarding the withdrawal of various posts, he said that the posts will be re-advertised under new recruitment policy which will benefit many aspirants hoping to serve the government in different departments.
