12 persons arrested for organising picnic in Ganderbal

Ganderbal, Apr 13: Police on Monday arrested at least 12 persons for violating lockdown orders by allegedly organising a picnic here. An official said after receiving information, a police team from police station Lar lead by SHO, Arshad Salafi arrested 12 persons after they were found defying the administrative lockdown orders by organising a picnic at Tragbal, Lar, amid the lockdown in the wake of the COVID19 outbreak. " A group of people had organised a picnic at Tragbal area here, a trekking place. So far 12 persons have been arrested. We are looking for others who were also part of the group," said the SHO. A case has been registered against the violators at police station Lar. " We are again warning everyone not to assemble in view of threat of COVDI19, otherwise strict legal action shall be taken" tweeted, SSP Ganderbal Khalil Ahmed Poswal. Meanwhile, police have also arrested three tipper drivers in the jurisdictions of police stations Ganderbal and Kheer Bhawani for defying the restriction orders, and seized their tippers. Two separate cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation has been initiated.
