J&K Student Association Demands Immediate Restoration of 4G Services in Kashmir.
Srinagar, March 17: J&K Students Association, a body of Kashmiri Students here on today demanded immediate restoration of 4G internet services in Kashmir Valley as students are continuously facing hardships and in pursing right to education viz online mode. In a statement, Additional Spokesperson of Association, Younus Rashid said that we requested the Govt to lift the ban on high-Speed connectivity (4G) In the Valley, as Students in the State have suffered a lot due to the ongoing ban on high-Speed Mobile internet Connectivity.
He said that Right to the internet is a part of right to life and right to education. Abnormal conditions have been induced in Kashmir through restrictions on High-Speed Internet Connectivity. The education sector has been the worst victim of the prevailing uncertainty, and with internet services snapped. He said that we believe, except the political detainee’s situation in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir is better and the current circumstances like covid19, there in dare need of high-speed internet in the region.
He said that, In view of the new academic calendar, and since the top universities have started the admission forms, students here have to check and complete admission details. In Kashmir from university-level to primary all institutions are closed till 31st March, now for downloading lectures and study material students need high-speed Internet access taking this thing in consideration we appeal to higher-ups kindly make sure, the education system remains in constant flow. And students may not face hardships while going through all these aspects in further prospects, he added.
He said that all prestigious universities Like JNU and Jamia etc have started the admission forms, students in the valley have to check and complete admission details adding that Students in Kashmir are not in a position to travel outside J&K amid the Coronavirus threat. The students are not able to access the university websites on low-speed 2G internet to fill the admission forms. The government should take note of the issue as it concerns the career of thousands of students who are desperate to apply for admissions in outside Universities, he added further.
Younus urged Lt Governor administration to look into the matter and to take immediate steps to restore high-speed Internet Connectivity in Kashmir valley on humanitarian grounds so that students won’t face any inconvenience and would be able to fill their Entrance forms and will be able to access the University Websites without any hesitation.
